South Downs Run – West Sussex MGOC

A wonderful run from the hights of the Southdown Way, through the wonderful lanes and villages of Sussex ending on the lawns of Eastbourne sea front.

All MG and Sprite owners are welcome regardless of club affiliations. The run  continues to be very popular –  200 cars are again expected so early booking is essential to ensure your place. Entries span the MG range from the earliest to the latest models. If the Run is over subscribed we will operate a reserve list to fill any cancellations and notify you accordingly.

The start is at Whiteways Roundabout Cafe on top of the South downs at the Bury Hill Roundabout Junction of the A29 and the B129. Postcode BN18 9FD Check-in is from 08.30 to 11.00 and you will be directed to the car park on the left of the café by our marshals. Any members who have booked a place with West Sussex MGOC and want to meet up at the start at White Ways café, we are looking to meet at 9.15am and depart at 10.00am. (Of course you are welcome to start anytime from 8.30am to 11.00am). Please note we have Chichester MGOC allocated area at the finish in Eastbourne, so on arrival just ask to be directed to our parking area.

The check-in desk will be near the car park’s entrance where we will hand out all route instructions and associated information.
It may be a good idea to bring a map of the area or your SatNav as backup in case you manage to wander off course. Within the route directions are place names (in bold) so to re-join the route, just use your map to get to the nearest and re-join the correct route.
Our route generally meanders along the lee of the South Downs reaching the finish point at Western Gardens, on the seafront at Eastbourne (postcode BN21 4EH). There are numerous pubs and coffee locations all along the route making this an opportunity to enjoy the whole outing at a leisurely pace to suit your mood. Awaiting you at Eastbourne will be a band playing (from 1:00pm) a mixture of tunes and
songs to give your arrival its deserved ambiance.
