Club Night – Guest Speaker
4 January @ 6:30 pm – 10:00 pm
We are delighted to have Ian Burton as our speaker this evening. Ian will be talking about his father’s life and career in the RAF. “Second World War experiences in Bomber Command and an RAF career during the Cold War”
Harry Burton is probably best known for his escape from Germany early in WW2, the first home run from that country. However taking a full commission after the war, his postings initially reflected Britain’s involvement in post-war activities and the tensions this created in Europe, followed by a peacetime that saw a gradual reduction in defence funding and the inevitable impact on the RAF.
It promises to be a fantastic evening, as Ian takes us through his father’s fascinating story.
